Seasonal happening at GOH

The Grand The Hotel will start off with the "Xmas Goodies Hut" from December 19 to 31 with special cakes, Xmas cakes , Xmas puddings, pastries, cookies, Yulelogs and much more.

Traditional Christmas carols will be echoed all around the hotel on December 24 and 25. There will be a Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and lunch and dinner on Christmas Day with a wide spread and music.

The hotel is gearing up to host a special New Year's eve celebration themed Harbour Trail 2011 at the Harbour Room where the Cool Set with Nalin De Silva will be performing. A variety of fun and happenings have been lined up for this dinner dance. Tickets will be made available at the hotel's reception. For anyone who purchases tickets before December 15 they'll be entitled for a 10 percent discount. The most happening party for the youngsters will take place at the Blue Leopard Night Club from 9 pm onwards till the dawn of the New Year. A special lunch will be served for the busy bankers and businessmen on "Banker's Lunch Buffet" on December 30 from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm.


Christmas Sale with EVE

Lions offer value for money:

The Lions & Lion Ladies of the Lions Club of Colombo (host) is once again geared up to have their annual Christmas sale.

The forthcoming Lions "Christmas Sale with EVE" will be on December 4 at the Shalika Hall, 225 Park Road, Colombo 5 from 10 am to 6 pm. People will get satisfying value for the money they spend as it will go to support the Sick and the Blind, the Maimed, the Young and the Old.

So far, the Lions of Colombo have provided more than 1300 free Cataract surgeries to the deserving, costing more than Rs. 4.5 million. This is one of the few among many worthwhile projects done by the club over the years.

At the Sale, there are range of clothes, both stylish and practical, linens, towels, shoes, cosmetics, perfumes, jewellery, household items, tasty home-cooked food, gifts, stationery, books, bags and more.

Sterilization clinic at Piliyandala

The Animal Welfare and Protection Authority (AWPA) will conduct a free sterilization/neutering clinic at SOS Children's Village, Piliyandala on December 4 from 7.30 am to 12 noon on a first come first serve basis.

Dog and cats who are four to six months and over can be neutered and sterilized. They must NOT be given any food or water for 12 hours prior to the operation and should not be sick. Cats should be brought in a box or basket and dogs on a chain.

The programme is being sponsored by Hatton National Bank aiming to prevent unwated puppies and kittens and eradicating rabies.
