Mouthwatering Power Lunch at Golden Dragon

Mouth watering soups, tantalizing appetizers, delectable authentic seafood and traditional signature Chinese specialties - if you are in the mood for all these and convert your lunch time in to a luscious Chinese gourmet meal, Golden Dragon at Taj Samudra is the place you should visit.

Power Lunch menu

I was invited to indulge their "Power lunch" by the charming and charismatic Assistant Manager PR Ravindi Walisinghe. The Golden Dragon which specializes in Cantonese and Szechwan cuisine has their own creative genius as their Master Chef is flown down all the way from the Szechwan Province of China.

Chef Bai Ping who is the mastermind behind the exotic menu has put together five different scrumptious four course menus for the weekdays for lunch with a vegetarian option as well.

I savoured the Tuesday menu which started off with a Hot and Sour soup with chicken. The soup was quite spicy and lived up to the name 'HOT' although it lacked a bit of sourness for my liking.

The two main meats - generous portions of the "crispy lamb in Szechwan style and the sliced fish in hot garlic sauce" were just amazing. The lamb was crispy outside, tender and moist inside and the Szechuan sauce blended in beautifully. The fish fillet was just out of this world.

It was dipped in a wonderful hot garlic sauce which just melted in my mouth. The chicken and egg fried rice which was served along was not oily, full of flavor and was the perfect accompaniment for the exotic lamb and Fish. You also have the option of opting for Vegetable hakka noodles or simply plain steamed rice.

The vegetable dish which was a combination of vegetables in garlic sauce was simple and flavoursome. I finished off my meal with a fresh fruit platter and a Chinese tea to wash away the calories.

The Power Lunch is a 3 course set menu with soup, main course, dessert and Chinese tea and is an affordable indulgence at its best which no other 5 star hotel in town can offer.

According to Ravindi the signature Power Lunch menus are delicious, healthy and are to be indulged in less than 60 minutes. The Golden Dragon which has a private dining area as well is perfect to have business meetings while savouring the power lunch at utmost privacy.
