Dilshan, Sangakkara bag top honours

Sri Lankan captain T M Dilshan was named the ‘Cricketer of the Year’ while the world’s number one test batsman Kumar Sangakkara won the ‘People’s Cricketer of the Year’ award in the CEAT Sri Lanka Cricket Awards Ceremony held at the Water’s Edge main Ballroom last Tuesday.

Dilshan also bagged the best ODI allrounder and the best ODI batsman awards while Sangakkara bagged the Test cricketer of the year award. Thisara Perera won the emerging cricketer and best ODI bowler awards while Ajantha Mendis was awarded as the best bowler in the ‘Test’ category.

CEAT hosted the event for the third consecutive year to appreciate country’s domestic and international cricket talents. The full list of awards winners will appear on Daily News Sports Weekly tomorrow.
