'Marina-Seylan' partnership offers new credit card

With special financial facility:

NMK Holdings (Private) Limited, a leading company which has introduced more than 30 healthy food products to the local and international markets under the brand name 'Marina', has partnered with Seylan Bank to launch a new credit card for the first time in Sri Lanka which offers clients special financial facility to purchase 'Marina' products.

The launch of this innovative credit card was held with the participation of Seylan Bank Chairman, Eastman Narangoda and NMK Group Chairman, Manjula Narayana, at the Seylan Bank head office in Colombo recently.

Narangoda said that this unique credit card was introduced in collaboration with NMK Holdings (Private) Limited with the key objective of extending a helping hand to small and medium scale business enterprises. Clients can make use of this opportunity to utilize the credit card to purchase 'Marina' products under a special financial facility arranged by the bank.

Outlining the benefits this new credit card offers to clients, Manjula Narayana said: "Retail stores, supermarkets, bakeries, hotels, restaurants and cafeterias are our main customers. This credit card offers them the opportunity of obtaining interest-free financial facilities repayable within 51 days to purchase their requirements of 'Marina' products. This credit facility also offers an opportunity to our clients to ensure a better cash flow through more prudent financial time management".

NMK Holdings (Private) Limited has introduced more than 30 healthy food products under the 'Marina' brand to the local and global markets. The 'Marina' products portfolio consist a range of refined coconut oil, cooking oil, sunflower oil and soya bean oil. The bakery range product consist of super cake, premium cake margarine, pastry margarine, general purpose margarine, bread fat, bun compound, biscuit fat, vegetable fat, frying fat, ice cream fat, pan lubricant, yeast and icing sugar etc...

NMK Holdings (Private) Limited is also in the process of launching a new range of similar healthy food products such as Omega 3 falxeed oil, organic virgin coconut oil, fat spread etc..under the 'Marina' brand to the market in due course.

All 'Marina' products strictly follow hygiene and food safety under international standards of ISO-22000, HACCP and HALAL with stated-of-the-art modern factory and safety research development laboratory.

McNuggets available again

All McDonald's outlets in Sri Lanka, have once again decided to reinclude the McNuggets as a regular inclusion on the menu from today.

McNuggets that captivated the taste buds of Sri Lankans for almost three decades are being included once again, due to popular demand.

Adding flavour to this tasteful experience will be a newly introduced range of international sauces, which will be available along with Chicken McNuggets, which consumers have been craving for so long.

FADNA launches Cinnamon Tea

At Anuga International Food Fair in Cologne - Germany:

Food and Nature (Pvt) Ltd, (FADNA) which is the leading marketeer of herbal and green tea in Sri Lanka, launched its new tea variety Cinnamon at the Anuga International Food Fair in Cologne, Germany in October. The launch was held in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB).

Orange Electric sets up South-Asia's first ever CFL recycling plant

Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) are fast emerging as the worldwide standard for commercial and domestic lighting, as they can save up to 80% on electricity costs and last 8-15 times longer than ordinary bulbs, making them highly environmentally friendly.

Recognising the need for responsible and environmentally friendly disposal of CFL bulbs, Orange Electric's Managing Director, Kushan Kodituwakku has set up South Asia's first ever CFL and fluorescent bulb recycling plant, in collaboration with Per Kristoffersson, founder of Nordic Recycling AB of Sweden. Nordic Recycling is the market leader for recycling of lamps in Scandinavia and is certified according to the quality standard SS EN ISO 9001, environmental standard 14001, Medical Devices Directives 13485 and is approved by the Swedish Government for handling of dangerous waste.

Operating under the name of Asia Recycling (Pvt) Ltd, this joint venture has the backing of the Central Environmental Agency (CEA) of the government of Sri Lanka. The plant, located in Homagama South Pitipana Rideemulla has the capacity to recycle up to 30,000,000 bulbs per annum, which is nearly three times greater than the annual CFL usage in Sri Lanka.
