Kandy SC kick off new season today

Champion Kandy Sports Club, who pocketed the league and the knockout title, will kick off the new season today.

They won the league title for the 11th successive year creating a record in the history of rugby football in Sri Lanka and also winning the league for the 19th time in 20 years. There is no substitute for hard work and discipline and it comes from self-belief, there are no short cuts it was dedication and team work that helped them.

So the glamour boys of local rugby , are once again preparing for the new season. They will kick off today with a club night. On this day their new Restaurant will be opened at 7.30 pm, where all players and members are expected to grace the occasion.

To mark this special occasion the singing duo- Kithsiri Jayasekera & Kumari Munasinghe and Clan would be with there to entertain. The organizing committee has decided to charge Rs. 500.00 as entrance fee.

Former Antonian, CH & FC, Kandy SC and Sri Lanka center Lasantha Wijesooriya did a fantastic job last season as Rugby Chairman along with Kapila Silva.

Coach Yohan Taylor is sure to take over again. He is expected after Christmas, and this time he is intending to start a rugby academy at Nittawella. He is a coach who knows how to groom a player and make him to play good quality rugger. He is the man who helped the Sri Lanka side to do well in the tri nation tournament last year.

So, once again the biggest backing will come from the king maker of the game Malik Samarawickrema and Dr. Sarath Kapuwatte the sporting doctor who has been keeping the club flag flying for the last twenty years.

So, all Committee members, members and their guest and players can be seen on this day.
