‘Budget will make SL the Wonder of Asia’

The budget proposals presented by the President for 2012 is a
development-oriented budget. If there is an opportunity to implement
budgets like this, it will not be difficult to make Sri Lanka the Wonder
of Asia, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith
Siyambalapitiya said.

“Thus there is nothing to fear. There is nothing to be ashamed of.
This budget aims to create a developed country while uplifting the
livelihoods of all communities. Many measures are taken in this budget
to lead Sri Lanka to development,” the minister said.
The minister said so inaugurating the construction work of Nugasewana
Viru Gammanaya in Dehiowita, Kegalle under the Janasewana housing
project. Seventy one houses will be built in this village and the
National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) is to spent Rs.10 million
for this purpose.
All plans and co-ordination will be carried out by the NHDA. The NHDA
is to finish all construction work of these houses within four months
under the guidance of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and
Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa and 71 families living with
minimum facilities will receive these new homes. The minister
distributed financial donations to these families as well. “The
Opposition party members raised objections without any reason in
Parliament when President Mahinda Rajapaksa was reading the budget 2012
just to show off their skills,” said Minister Weerawansa.
“The public knows that the opposition of Sri Lanka is very weak and
that they cannot change public view. Therefore, now they are trying to
show their strength to the international community. The Opposition is
creating conflicts from time to time,” he said.
Livestock and Rural Community Development Deputy Minister H.R.
Mithrapala, Senior Minister for Rural Affairs Athauda Seneviratne,
Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Member Parakrama Athauda, Construction,
Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Ministry Additional
Secretary P. Dayaratne, NHDA Chairman Jayantha Samaraweera and General
Manager Brigadier Sudath Perera also participated. |
