OL mail gets top priority

The Postal Department will distribute Ordinary Level examination related letters on a priority basis, Postal Services Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando said.

Examination admission cards and identity cards will be directly despatched to the main post offices without sending through the Central Mail Exchange to avoid delays. Identity cards and admission cards will be distributed no sooner the main post offices receive them, he said.

The Secretary informed Examination Commissioner General Anura Edirisinghe and Persons Registration Department Commissioner Jagath Wijeweera yesterday to introduce a mechanism to distribute examination related mail soon. Mail distribution was hampered for a few weeks following trade union action by certain postal service unions at the Central Mail Exchange. These trade unions have agreed to distribute mail related to the OL examination without delay.

Meanwhile, most of delayed mails have already been distributed, the Secretary added.
