Music is a universal art which enables to touch human hearts vividly.
Concerning its impact on humans and its role in Sri Lankan context,
Chamara Ruwanthilake together with Lal Rupasinghe have launched their
music CD, Sirilak Amma (identifying Sri Lankan music in the global
village) under their own label, C & L Music. This is an experimental
song collection which has our own identity.

Chamara and Lal are really creative musicians who work as music
teachers. Both are graduates from the Performance Arts University
possessing the Music Visharada Diploma from the Bhathkanda University of
India. They have contributed to the music CD, Jana Gee Malaya, which is
an experimental one.
They were awarded the Swarnajothi Awards Festival Best Upcoming
Singer and the Best Music Band of the year (2007) organized by Sri Lanka
Rupawahini Corporation (SLRC) in 2007. They also created the theme song
of Ran Aswanu Mangalyaya the country wide home gardening competition
organized by SLRC.
Apart from that they have worked as musicians in Ape Gama, Sanda
Madiyama, Muthuhara Daham Bima programmes of SLRC and also at
Swarnawahini and Sirasa TV. Lal Rupasingha has sung the theme songs of
very popular TV-dramas such as Robinson Andare and Rahas Dupatha
telecasted on Rupawahini. |
