Smuggled cigarettes seized

The Panadura Division Anti-Vice Squad seized 7,400 smuggled cigarettes and 449 pills of an aphrosidiac called Madana Modaka during a raid conducted in Horana on Monday.

During the raid, conducted on the instructions of Horana ASP Saman Ratnayake, the Anti-Vice Squad officers arrested a peddler with 92 smuggled cigarettes in his possession. Following interrogation of the suspect, the racketeer involved in the smuggled cigarette racket was arrested at Berukatiya, Moragahahena with a stock of smuggled cigarettes in his possession.

The suspects were due to be produced before the Horana magistrate.
