Trinco electricity demand to be met within 13 months

The electricity supply which is 76 percent of the demand in the Trincomalee district will be increased to meet 100 percent demand within the next 13 months. Twenty transformers and 1332 extensions will be sufficient to accomplish this task, said Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka at a progress review meeting of the Trincomalee Political authority held in Trincomalee recently.

Minister Ranawaka who said that electricity projects have been launched targeting each and every electorate by his ministry to achieve the target of 100 percent supply by 2012 as envisaged by the Mahinda Chinthana Idiri Dekima added that setting up of new connections and extensions have started in the Ampara, Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts under the Neganahira Navodaya programme.

The Minister responding to a request made by the political authority to supply electricity supplies to bridges built in Trincomalee district to uplift community life through infrastructure facilities directed relevant CEB officers to fulfil the request without delay.
