Watery grave for six

Athapattu BANDARA

Four women and two men drowned in the Awarathota Tank in Giriulla yesterday.

The victims are residents of Slave Island, Wellawatta and Kotahena.

Giriulla Police with the support of villagers recovered the bodies.

The bodies are lying at Dambadeniya hospital. Giriulla police are conducting investigations.

The victims and their relatives numbering 17 people, were on tour to Giriulla. They had stopped at the tank for a bath.

Later, the others had realized that six persons were missing.

However, no one had realized that those missing had drowned.
