Two retired judges still using official vehicles

Two former judges are still keeping their official vehicles for personal use even though three years have lapsed since their retirement.

This is despite repeated reminders made by the Justice Ministry requesting them to return the vehicles, said the Ministry in a press release issued under the hand of its consultant D.A. Hettiarachchi yesterday.

Since they ignored repeated reminders cases were filed against them through the Civil High Courts which delivered orders on them to return the vehicles but the two former Judges have still failed to abide by the order and return the vehicles. Justice Ministry Secretary Suhada Gamlath has said this amounted misuse of state property violation of legal principles which set a wrong example to the public, the release said.
