Livelihood skills certificate ceremony
Over 200 youth who successfully completed a livelihood skill training
in the Galle District will receive their certificates.
These youth who participated in the Livelihood Skill Development
Programme conducted by Aide et Action International, successfully
completed their programme and will receive their certificates at a
ceremony to be held in Ambalangoda today.
Ambassador to France in Sri Lanka Christine Robichon and MP and
Advisor to the President Rajiva Wijesinha will be the chief guest and
guest of honour.
This is the passing out of 11th and 12th batches of the iLEAD Centre
(Initiative for Livelihood Education and Development) operating in
Hikkaduwa. Most of these youth were school dropouts and coming from the
marginalized sections of the society.
They received skill training on trades such as information
technology, graphic designing, customer care relations and German
language.
These trades were decided by an employability study conducted in the
area and 80% of these trainees are already placed on jobs in surrounding
establishments.
