Priority for O/L student IDs

Commissioner General of the Department Registration of Persons Jagath P Wijeweera Wednesday stated that priority would be given to issue National Identity Cards to students sitting for the GCE (O/L) examination this year.

Wijeweera addressing a press conference in Colombo said that no students need to entertain any doubts about their identity cards. He said that students who were 16 years on October 30, 2011 can apply for National Identity Cards as instructed by the Examination Commissioner before November 30. Commissioner General Jagath P Wijeweera also said that the other students who are not 16 by October 30 could confirm identity by producing a postal identity card and sit for the examination.

He also said the RPD could be contacted over the phone on Nos 0112583122, 0112585043 or by fax Nos 0112593634, 0112583190.
