President lays foundation for Kiri Vehera museum building

President Mahinda Rajapaksa laid the foundation stone for a proposed museum building at the Kiri Vehera Raja Maha Viharaya on Wednesday.

The President participated in religious observances at the Viharaya and Viharadhipathi and Uva Wellassa University's Chancellor Ven Dr Aluthwewa Soratha Thera invoked blessings on the President.

Thereafter the President listened to an all night pirith ceremony held at the viharaya to invoke the blessings of the Triple Gem on him. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Uva Governor Kumari Balasooriya, Uva Chief Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa and Ministers Jagath Pushpakumara and Sumedha G Jayasena were also present on the occasion.
