Dana to bless President

A Dana was offered to a group of 1,000 mothers (kiri Ammavaru) and 100 fathers (Kiri Appavaru) at a Pinkama held at the Narahenpita Abhayaramaya yesterday morning to invoke blessings on President Mahinda Rajapaksa on his birthday and the country.

President Rajapaksa participated in the Pinkama organised by the Narahenpita Purana Viharadhipati and Public Service United Nurses Union (PSUNU) President Ven Murththettuwe Ananda Thera, Chief Sanghanayake thera of the Western Province.

Ven Dr Iththepane Dhammalankara Thera administered Pansil. Ven Muruththettuwe Ananda thera in a brief anusasana, said for almost 30 years, people went to work and awaited the return of their children after school with a sense of fear and suspicion.

“But President Rajapaksa has now liberated the country from terrorism and provided an opportunity for people to lead peaceful and free lives”. The Dana was organised to bless President Rajapaksa as a mark of gratitude for his services.

Ministers John Seneviratne, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Bandula Gunawardene, Pavithra Wanniarachchi and Johnston Fernando, Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena, President’s chief of staff Gamini Senarath and IGP N K Ilangakoon were also present.
