CIA dictated new IAEA report on Iran
'It is unbalanced, unprofessional and politically
motivated' :
Iran: An Iranian lawmaker says the latest report by the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran's nuclear case has been dictated by
the Central Intelligence Agency.
Member of the Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign
Policy Committee Mahmoud Ahmadi Bighash told IRNA on Wednesday that the
latest IAEA report proved that the nuclear agency has no authority to
act on its own and only serves US and Israeli interests.
The Iranian lawmaker said that the IAEA must work within the
framework of a legal system.
However, the new report issued on Iran's nuclear program runs
contrary to IAEA obligations and commitments.
He stressed that international organizations have originally been
formed to defend the rights of nations. Nonetheless, they have failed in
their primary objectives, and are now at the disposal of certain states.
IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano's latest report on Iran's nuclear
activities was given to the 35 members of the Board of Governors Tuesday
evening, ahead of the seasonal meeting of the board, which is scheduled
to be held in Vienna from November 17 to 18.
Iran dismissed the report as "unbalanced, unprofessional and prepared
with political motivation and under political pressure mostly by the
US."
The United States, Israel, and some of their allies accuse Tehran of
pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program. However, as a
signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the
IAEA, Iran says it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear
technology for peaceful purposes.
In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iranian
nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence indicating that
Iran's civilian nuclear program has been diverted towards nuclear
weapons production. Perss TV |
