Two arrested with contraband cigarettes

Two men who had imported and sold cigarettes without paying Customs duty were arrested in Gonapala area with a stock of 3000 cigarettes by Corruption Suppression Unit, Panadura on Wednesday.

The raid was carried out on information received by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Horana, Saman Rathnayaka.

The suspects are 30 and 58 years-of age.

OIC, Corruption Suppression Unit, Panadura, Sub Inspector Nayanajith, Sergeants Gamalath, Rajakaruna, Constables Nimal, Thushara, Wasantha, Lahiru, Prasanna and Karunarathna carried out the raid.

The suspects are in Horana Police custody and will be produced before Horana Magistrate’s Courts along with the stock of cigarettes.
