Steps to propagate Pali

The Buddhist Affairs Department has taken action to overcome the shortage of Pali language teachers in the country. As a major step the Buddhist Affairs Department has commenced Pali language classes in 20 Districts throughout the country", Buddhist Affairs Commissioner General Chandrapreme Gamage said.

Following the completion of these courses the Pali Promotion Certificate Examination will be held in 26 centers throughout the country on November 12 from 9am to 12.

This examination will be organized by the Buddhist Affairs Department and the Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs Ministry.

Around five hundred and eighty four individuals who have successfully completed the course will be eligible to sit the examination, he said. The Pali language course is a one year programme.
