Man gets two months' RI for double mistakes

A man who drove a luxury bus without a valid licence and under the influence of liquor, was sentenced to two months' Rigorous Imprisonment by Puttalam district judge and magistrate Heshantha de Mel.

G K Nalaka Samantha Perera of Ganemulla was taken into custody by the Puttalam police while driving the luxury passenger bus at high speed from Jaffna to Colombo. The bus was stopped by the police for careless and reckless driving. When questioned, the police noticed that the man was under the influence of liquor.

According to the police, the man had driven the bus without a valid driving licence.
