Govt to develop physical resources in schools

The government will develop buildings and other physical resources in
600 schools islandwide, said Construction, Engineering Services, Housing
and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa.
The minister was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the
sanitation facilities development project in 32 schools in the Kaduwela
Divisional Secretariat division at the Rahula Girls' College, Malabe on
Wednesday.
Development projects have been introduced to schools under the
guidance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa with the aim of providing a
solution to the issue of popular schools.
The government pays attention to uplift the education system in the
country,he added.
The Economic Development Ministry allocated Rs.20.6 million to this
project under the Gama Neguma development programme.
Development projects will also be implemented spending Rs 80 million
in the Kaduwela Divisional Secretariat division.
"Under the present education system, a large number of graduates who
are coming from universities annually are Arts graduates.
The education system is providing more Arts graduates than
expected,"the minister said. The system should be changed and G.C.E.(A/L)
science and mathematics schemes should be introduced to all schools,
minister Weerawansa said. |
