Thurstan on top

Thurstan College, Colombo is in a formidable position against Prince of Wales' College at the end of day one in their inter-schools First Eleven cricket match played at Moratuwa.

The bright spot for the day is a brilliant 101 runs by Sajeeva Salgado for Thurstan which included nine fours and three sixes and he occupied the crease for 178 minutes and faced 125 balls. Devaka Dabare and Thilan Nimesh excelled with the ball for Cambrians with 4 for 43 and 4 for 59 respectively. When the stumps were drawn for the day Cambrians were struggling with 89 for 9 with Nivindu Janeesha unbeaten on 31 runs and Milhaj Jaleel doing the most of the damage with 5 for 33 while Rajith Perera claimed 3 for 26.

Thurstan College: 170 (Sajeeva Salgado 101, Devaka Dabare 4/43 and Thilan Nimesh 4/59).
