Illegal gem miners nabbed

Special Task Force (STF), Horana raided four illegal gem mining locations in Nivithigala, Dala, Ve ganga and arrested 16 suspects with a large stock of gem mining equipment including a diesel engine with silencers, compressors, mamoties, cane baskets etc.

The suspects are residents of Ratnapura, Nivithigala, Erabadda, Kiriella and Dala.

They, along with the equipment, were handed over to the Nivithigala police by the STF.
