Body found

The body of a 48 year old person named Kanugalawattage Stanley Nihal, was found on Vasana playground road, Batagama South by Kandana Police on Thursday morning following information given by the public.


He needs help

Tissa Central School diamond jubilee

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be the chief guest at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Tissa Central College, Kalutara at the school premises today. President Rajapaksa will open the new three-storey building and lay the foundation stone for another three-storey building.


Haj prayers

Haj festival prayers and sermon will be held on Monday at 8.30 am at the Maligawatte Jumma Mosque, Colombo. The festival sermon will be conducted by Nawalapitiya Hashimiya Arabic College student Moulavi Hafil Shiyam Azar.


Burgher Association AGM

The 10th annual general meeting of the Burgher Association will be held today at 6.30 pm at the Dutch Burgher Union Hall, 114, Reid Avenue, Colombo 4. Association President Hans Beekmeyer will preside while the election of office bearers for 2011/2012 will be conducted by Trevor Ludowyke, as pro temchairman. Association's patron and founder president Maxi Rozairo and Yasmin Rosairo will grace as the chief guest. Registration of members will commence at 5.30 pm.

The annual general meeting will be followed by the AGM, members get-together and a sing-along from 7.30 pm at the same venue, backed by a live band as well as other entertainment with DJ music, competitions etc to celebrate the association's 10th anniversary.


SJC OBU requiem mass

The Old Boys Union of St Joseph's College has organized a requiem mass on November 7 at 5.30 pm at the college chapel, for all departed old Josephians and request all old Joes to be present for the mass.


Trade fair, carnival

A trade fair and carnival organized by the Old Boys' Association of St Sebestian's College, Kandana to mark the school's 32nd anniversary will be held from December 7 to 11 at the college grounds.


Awards Ceremony

The awards ceremony of the Best Annual Report and Accounts competition of national schools will be held on November 10 at 2pm at the BMICH.

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena will be the chief guest, Deputy Minister Gamini Wijith Wijithamuni de Zoysa and ministry secretary H M Gunasekera will be the guests of honour.


Anniversary celebrations

The All Ceylon Union of English Teachers, Unit of Education International, Brussels with a membership of 30 million teachers and education workers around the world will celebrate its 50th anniversary celebrations under the patronage of the founder M A Stanley Perera at Sri Jayawardenepura, English Teachers' Union Headquarters tomorrow.


Lecture on Rwanda

Dr Danielle Beswick will deliver a lecture followed by a discussion on 'Rwanda's Experience of Building Post-ethnic Identity' on Monday at 5.30 pm at the ICES Auditorium, 2 Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8.

Dr Danielle is a lecturer specialising in post-conflict reconstruction at the International Development Department of the University of Birmingham.
