D A Rajapaksa 44th commemoration on Nov 7

A commemorative ceremony to mark the 44th death anniversary of Minister and Deputy Speaker D A Rajapaksa will be held at the Tangalle Town Hall on November 7 at 8.30 am.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be the chief guest at this ceremony organised by the D A Rajapaksa Commemoration Committee of Weeraketiya.

Ceremonies will begin with the placing of floral tributes at the D A Rajapaksa statue at the Mahawela road park, Tangalle at 8.30 am. President Rajapaksa, First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Hambantota District MP Namal Rajapaksa will place floral tributes at the statue followed by Ministers and MPs and other invitees. A highlight will be the D A Rajapaksa commemorative lecture delivered by Sabaragamuwa Governor W J M Lokubandara at 9.30 am.

President Rajapaksa will distribute Sisura scholarship awards and prizes and awards among winners of an essay and oratorical contest held among schoolchildren to mark the occasion, said Presidential Co-ordinating officer Sarath Amaraweera.
