State Pharmaceutical Corporation and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Corporation to be amalgamated as one entity
The Cabinet decided to amalgamate the State Pharmaceutical
Corporation and State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation to
provide a better service on a proposal made by Health Minister
Maithripala Sirisena.
Water supply scheme to Gonapinuwala, Baddegama
The Cabinet approved the implementation of two water supply schemes,
one in Gonapinuwala and the other in Baddegama, on a proposal by Water
Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
Rs 349 million has been allocated during 2012 to 2013 to implement
the Gonapinuwala water supply scheme in the Ambalangoda Pradeshiya Sabha
under which the distribution will cover 35 km.
Meanwhile, the present pipe-borne water supply scheme at Baddegama is
to be augmented to meet the current demand for water in the area. This
augmentation will cost Rs 440.46 million, to be completed within two
years.
US $ 89.55 million Chinese assistance to relocate Moratuwa
University NDT
Cabinet approval was granted to a proposal by Higher Education
Minister S B Dissanayake for the relocation and development of the
Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa at Diyagama in Homagama
with financial assistance from the Chinese government.
Cabinet approval has been granted to purchase land for the relocation
and development of the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa.
This project has been identified as a priority project on the basis
of the recommendation of the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee.
The Higher Education Ministry will enter into a commercial contract
amounting to US $ 89.55 million with China National Aero Technology
Import and Export Corporation to implement the project.
Heritage Museum in Hambantota
The Cabinet decided to establish the Hambantota heritage museum at
the old kachcheri building complex at Hambantota on a proposal by
National Heritage Minister Dr Jagath Balasuriya. It is envisaged to
present Ruhuna's cultural heritage to local and foreign travellers
visiting the south via new Hambantota port and the proposed
international airport, through the proposed museum.
Rs 1,054 million to provide uniform material to schoolchildren
The proposal by Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena to import
school uniform material through the State Trading Corporation spending
Rs 1,054,222,500 to ensure timely delivery of school uniforms was
approved by the Cabinet.
Accordingly, 5,810,000 metres of white shirt and frock material and
980,000 metres of white trousers material, 777,000 metres of blue
trousers material and 400,000 metres of robe material will be imported
from China and Pakistan.
