Daintee to invest Rs 100 m for wrappers

Daintee Limited will invest Rs 100 million to build a factory in
Boralasgamuwa to manufacture printed wrappers for confectionery items.

Daintee Limited Chairman Dr. Ayal Jayatilaka told the Daily News
business that companies have been importing printed wrappers to the
country during the last few years investing millions of rupees. The
intention of the company is to reduce these imports and save money for
the country.
Initially it will generate 20 employment opportunities. The printing
machineries are very expensive and they are hoping to invest Rs 40
million to Rs 50 million for machinery. Printed wrappers could be used
for all confectionery items including biscuits, chocolates and others.
The company has invested in latest technology to manufacture a range
of new products and today they lead the sugar confectionery market in
Sri Lanka
Daintee is one of the market leaders in confectioneries in Sri Lanka.
It was founded with the aim of producing high quality confectionery for
the Sri Lankan market.
Daintee Limited introduced a range of sugar-free products for
diabetics also. The company also hopes to export sugar-free products.
There are more sugar-free chocolates in the world market but wafers are
in demand.
The company is mainly looking at the export of wafers. Daintee
Limited also looking to expand their sugar-free products in the country
and to the international market. |
