LB Finance goes to Thambuththegama

LB Finance has been recording phenomenal figures, as its net profits
rose by 94% since last year, to hit Rs. 351 million at the end of the
quarter ended June 2011. Net interest income rose by 42% between the
period of June 2010 and June 2011, to Rs. 800 million, while the
company's asset base grew steadily from Rs. 28 billion last June to a
sturdy Rs. 31 billion as at June 30, 2011. Non-performing loans and
assets have been gradually streamlined, with Provision for Bad Debt and
Devalued Investments falling by 44% to Rs. 15 million over the passage
of the year.

The Finance expands pawning service centres
In keeping with the strategy of expanding its pawning business The
Finance Company PLC is in the process of opening dedicated pawning
service in strategic locations in the country. Two pawning service
centres were opened recently in Modara and Trincomalee.
The Modara Pawning Service Center was opened by Executive Director
Tissa Ekanayake and now operates from Muthuwella Road, Modara. The
Modara Pawning Centre is the company's first stand alone centre
dedicated primarily for pawning. The pawning business which is a major
contributor to the firm's bottom line, has been achieving a high growth
rate of 64% in the last quarter. More dedicated pawning centres are to
be opened in key parts of the island in the near future.
The Trincomalee Pawning Centre was opened by Director and CEO Kamal
Yatawara and commenced business from Thirugnanasampanthan Veethi,
Trincomalee, recently.
Having People's Bank, Bank of Ceylon and Seylan Bank as its key
shareholders, the company had an encouraging start to the new financial
year where the firm recorded a profit at the end of the first quarter of
2011.

Commercial Bank account holders on the Etisalat network can now
experience the convenience of the full range of mobile phone based
banking services offered by the bank following an agreement between the
two organisations.
Consequently, the 'Com re-Load' facility that enables customers to
instantly top up their mobile phone account balances 24 hours a day, 365
days of the year; SMS Banking (ComSMS) and mobile banking services
offered by Commercial Bank are now available to accountholders of the
bank with pre and post-paid Etisalat connections.

MARKSS HLC holds thematic evening
MARKSS Healthcare (MARKSS HLC) one of the fastest growing

Dambulla on the topic "The importance of maintaining optimal immunity

participating.
