China urges talks on Iran nuclear issue

China: China has emphasized that diplomacy is the best way to resolving the impasse over Iran's nuclear issue and called for further international efforts to achieve such an objective.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Jiang Yu said on Friday that China has always supported the International Atomic Energy Agency and stayed in regular contact with IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano, Xinhua news agency reported.

"China and Russia recently presented their shared views about the Iranian nuclear issue to the IAEA chief," Jiang said.

The senior Chinese official added, "Both countries hope the IAEA will remain independent and professional with an objective and impartial attitude, and resolve the issue based on facts." The United States, the Israeli regime and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program. The UN Security Council has already imposed four rounds of sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.
