Southern Sharks clinch Cup C’ship

Southern Sharks put up a great performance in the cup finals to defeat the strong Central Kings by 19 points (two goals, one try) to 14 (two goals) to win the Cup Championship of the first leg of the Carlton Super Rugby Sevens organized by Carlton Sports Club in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union and concluded at the Bogambara Stadium yesterday. At half time Southern Sharks led 12-0.

Ratnapura District emerge overall champions

Ratnapura District emerged overall champions by collecting 116.5 points in the 23rd National Youth Sports Festival, while Kurunegala District (83 points) became the runner-up. Urban Youth and Gampaha District shared the third place with 80 points each on the final day at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Sports Complex (MRISC ) yesterday.

Pakistan triumph at Hong Kong Sixes

Blistering half centuries by Abdul Razzaq and Sohail Tanvir guided Pakistan to a 35-run victory over England to be crowned champions at the Hong Kong Sixes on Sunday. Captain Razzaq smashed 63 not out, while the left-handed Tanvir battered 58, as Pakistan set an imposing target of 155.
