Star of Lanka dazzles at jewellery show

The finest of the collection of gems, jewellery, beads etc. including
the 'Star of Lanka', the third largest star sapphire in the world, in
the possession of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority would be on
display at an exhibition to be held in Ratnapura tomorrow.
The gem and jewellery show which presents the most dazzling display
of gems and jewellery in Sri Lanka has been organized to mark the
National Gem and Jewelery Authority's 40th anniversary.
According to authorities 'Star of Lanka' the 392.92 carat sapphire
and the exquisitive Chrysoberyl Cat's Eye of 103 Carats would be on
display in Sri Lanka for the first time.
The exhibition held at the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Auditorium
in Ratnapura would be open to the public from 9.00 am. Environment
Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa will be the Chief Guest.
The authority has also organized a gem and jewellery auction at their
regional office premises in Ratnapura.
An award ceremony where outstanding contributors to the industry
would be honoured has also been organized on the same day. |
