Maris Stella wins vb triple crown

Hemantha Warnasooriya, Chief Executive Director McLarens Lubricants Ltd handing over the championship trophy to the captain of the Maristella College under 20 team.

Maristella College, Negombo bagged three titles in boys under 14, 16 and 20 to win a triple crown in the Blue, Gold and Blue Western Province Invitation Schools Volleyball Championships 2011, worked off at Royal College courts recently.

Girl spikers from Mahagamasekara Maha Vidyalaya, Radawana won the under 20 title which was the only event for girls.

Royal College Colombo secured runners up titles in boys under 12, 14 and 16 age groups. Bandaranayaka Central College, Mirigama became runners up in

under 20 boys category.

The event had been organized jointly by the Royal College, Colombo and the Royal College Union Volleyball Advisory Committee while Mobil Lubricants Oil were the sponsors.

A total of 72 teams representing 32 schools participated in the tournament. Hemantha Warnasooriya, the Chief Executive Director, McLarens Lubricants Ltd attended the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest along with Upali Gunasekara, Principal Royal College, Colombo.
