Colombo Drag Race on November 5

Class 11: 	Motor 	Bikes over 601cc 

Ceylon Motor Sports Club joins hands with Carlton Sports Network to organize the Colombo Drag Race on November 5 at Green Path, in Colombo 7. A drag race is an acceleration contest from a standing start between two vehicles over a measured distance. The distance of the races will be 375m.

Local players of the North Western Blacks rugby sevens team with their foreign trainer from New Zealand,Ricard Willie and Manager Dilroy Fernando. They will test their prowesses with nine other teams in the forthcoming Carlton Super Sevens Championship. Three foreign players from New Zealand, USA and Fiji are yet to arrive in the country to join the team.

Sri Lanka Automobile Sport (SLAS), the governing body of motor sport in Sri Lanka, have given permission to the organizers to conduct the meet, while the organizers too have called for entries, putting in place the required safety measures as recommended by the governing body. Seat belts, helmets and overalls being mandatory will create the benchmark, while proper scrutinizing will be conducted on the cars to ensure that they are safe to run.

Professional Tag Heuer Electronic timing will be used by the organizers to time the contestants, while the start and finish will have live cameras to ensure competitors do not have false starts as well as to monitor photo finishes.

Drivers will be permitted to enter a standard car into a race class.

This would be the first time such an event of this scale would be conducted at night, hence all security and proper international safety protocols will be adhered to, the organizers expect to start the first round by 5 pm.

The winners of the events will be awarded trophies.

Entries are available on the Ceylon Motor Sports Club, Face Book fan page or the entries to be handed in at BRJW Enterprises Pvt Ltd, No. 33 Dutugamunu Street, Pamankada, Dehiwala. (Between 9 a.m & 4.30 p.m. on weekdays).
