Dharma SRI ABEYRATNE
World’s key airline operators expressed their keen interest to
commence operations in Mattala once it is commissioned in March 2012,
during the World Route Development Forum 2011 held for the 17th time in
Berlin, Germany recently. This was in response to a request made by the
Sri Lankan delegation who attended the forum.
Mattala Airport, once opened, will be the second international
airport in the country.
Other airport and aviation sector related requests forwarded by the
Sri Lanka delegation have received satisfactory responses at the World
Route Development Forum, Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne said.
The forum, which is the leading route development forum in the world,
helps airline, airport and tourism authorities and other stakeholders
learn, negotiate, build relationships and identify new entrepreneurial
opportunities in the aviation sector.
It is the meeting place for the world’s route development industry
where all types of airline, airport and tourism authorities from every
continent meet. |
