Dulakshi, Mihiliya in girls U-17 final

Dulakshi Elikawala won the under 17 girls fist semi final against Raveena Sumathipala (8/11,11/3,11/5,11/0) on the fourth day of the 22nd Junior National Squash Championship at the Tamil Union Cricket Club squash complex yesterday. Raveena comfortably won the first set (8/11). Dulakshi got into her rhythm in the second set and dominated the match by winning all three following sets. Meanwhile Mihiliya Methsarani received a walkover from Gayara jayasuriya in the other semi final and will meet Raveena in the final which is to be worked off on October 22 at 5.00p.m.

Much contested match was showcased in the girls under 11 semi-final between Nimasiri Weerasinghe and D. Gallage where the latter made it to the final after battling all five sets (11/5,11/5,8/11,9/11,11/0).

Gallage won the first two sets easily but was shocked by the sudden come back of her opponent where Nimsarani won the set without much trouble (11/8). She continued in the same fashion and won the following set as well (9/11). Gallage fought hard and won the last set without giving an opportunity to score a single point to Nimsarani and booked her place in Saturday’s final.
