First glimpses show Shalit weak, pale but happy

ISRAEL: The first live images of Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier released on Tuesday after more than five years in captivity, were fleeting, showing a thin, confused-looking figure being hurried along by officials.

The footage, which was broadcast by Egyptian state TV, was taken shortly after Shalit was transferred from Gaza to Egypt and showed him looking dazed as he was briskly led towards the Israeli frontier in the first images of him since his capture on June 25, 2006. AFP
