Malaysia International team champions

Malaysia won the International team event with 302 points and Shayanika Fernando of Sri Lanka won the Pin Fernando trophy for the best aggregate nett score at the 124th Sri Lanka Ladies Amateur Open Championship 2011 organised by the Sri Lanka Golf Union and sponsored by E-wis and Audi and worked off at Victoria golf course at Rajawella yesterday.

The Malaysian team made up two school girls H Fariza Ismail (14 years) and Loy Hee Ying (17 years) put up a fine display to aggregate 302 points over the two rounds.

Indian team Gurbani Singh partnered by Gawri Monga totalled 304 points - just 2 points behind to finish runner-up.

Sri Lanka ladies team made up by Niloo Jayatilleke and A Rasika totalled 339 points to finish third. Niloo Jayatilleke totalled 175 points while A Rasika fared a little better total 164 points. On the first day she scored 77.

The toast of Sri Lanka was Shayanika Fernando who playing to a handicap of 6 totalled a nett score of 141 to lift the Pin Fernando Trophy. Loy Hee Ying of Malaysia finished runner-up with 145.

Versatile Suwen Selvaratnam clinched a double by winning the senior trophy for the Best Aggregate Gross Score and Best Aggregate Nett Score playing to a handicap of 8.
