Mushikan powers New Youngs

New Young's Sports Club trounced Sri Lanka Ari Force Sports Club with a 4-1 win in their Dialog Champions League stage 10 football encounter worked off at Sir Albert F. Peiris Stadium on Sunday.

A.R.M. Mushikan penetrated the opponent's goal area as early as in the second minute and then again two minutes later, laying the victory foundation.

G.I. Hameed scored in the 20th minute to make it 3-0 for New Young's before the half time whistle.

Air Force had their consolation when N.A.G.K. Perera scored just after the lemons but Mushikan stroke again in the middle of the second half to make it 4-1 .

Renown moves up

At CR and FC Ground, Blue Star SC met Renown SC. The first half saw no goals but in the second half, Blue Star striker A.W.M. Farzeen and A.H.M. Nifal collected one goal each to give their team a lead of 2-0.

A.A.F. Rahuman found the opponent net for Renown SC in the 70th minute and then M.K.M. Safras after 15 minutes, equalized with a beauty. It was a 'on game' towards the end until M.M.Sameer gave a reason for Renown to celebrate in the last minute when he scored a beauty to end the game at 3-1 in Renown SC's favour.

Navy wins, Army held

Sri Lanka Navy SC spent a better Sunday when they defeated Java Lane SC at City Football Complex by 1-0 , P.R.T. Nandasiri scored the only goal of the match.

Nandimitra SC drew their game at Kelaniya Football Complex with much fancied Sri Lanka Army. Both goal keepers had not much to do in the first half until K.A.A. Jayashan netted the ball to lead Nandimitra by 1-0 in the 50th minute.

However R.D.S. Gunasinghe safeguarded their pride with a sensational goal in the 83rd minute to escape another defeat for Army.

Saunders drop down

Sri Lanka Police SC drew with Saunders SC at their home ground on Saturday. A.M. Prasanna netted a ball in the first half and that helped the policemen to take the lead until M.S.M. Rimsan equalized, scoring a goal for Saunders in the 47th minute.

Ratnam SC also ended up in a one all draw with Don Bosco SC at CR and FC Ground. N.D. Bandara scored a goal for Don Bosco while Channa for Saunders, scored goals.
