Zahira in 166-run win

Pradeep Ananda, who took a five-wicket haul for 43 runs in the second innings paved the way to a 166-run win for Zahira College against Revatha Vidyalaya, Balapitiya on the second day of their under 19 Division One inter-school cricket match played at Maradana yesterday.

Revatha Vidyalaya were restricted for 104 in their first innings by a fine spell of 6 for 43 by Pradeep Ananda and Irshad Umar who took 2 wickets for 7 runs. Earlier, on the first day, Zahira had declared at 188 for 9.

In reply, Lakshan Edirisinghe (49 n.o), Dilshad Hilmi (39) and M Irham (30) took Zahira second innings to a quick 174 in 23 overs.

Chasing a target of 259 runs, Revatha batsmen were all out for 93 in 23 overs. Pradeep Ananda struck again to grab a five-wicket haul while Irshad Umar (3 for 14) and B Marikar (2 for 14) contributed well.

Revatha Vidyalaya: 104 and 93 (Buddika Madusanka 29, Suresh Kumara 21 n.o, Pradeep Ananda 6 for 43, Irshad Umar 2 for 7).

Zahira College: 188 for 9 decl and 174 for 7 decl (Lakshan Edirisinghe 49 n.o, Dilshad Hilmi 39, M Irham 30, Dilshan de Zoysa 2 for 32).
