Bharatha killing:

Suspect re-remanded

Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday further remanded till November 1, the suspect who had been remanded in connection with the shooting incident where Presidential Trade Union Advisor and former Colombo District Parliamentarian Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra was killed.

On an application by the CID, the magistrate directed the suspect to be produced before an identification parade on the next date.

The special CID team deployed by the CID DIG earlier had recovered two T 56 weapons, 12 pistols and two revolvers. The CID also questioned 37 persons including several security persons who were present at the incident.

Colombo District UPFA MP Duminda Silva, who was seriously injured during the shooting incident is warded at the Intensive Care Unit at Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital.
