Two novel paddy strains

The Labuduwa Paddy Research Station in Galle has brought out two novel strains of paddy.

According to Labudwa paddy research station officer in charge G.A. Jinadasa the two new paddy varieties brought out are named LD 3-12-50 red samba and LD 3-6-12 white samba. They are at the final stage of experiment and are expected to be released for cultivation soon. A production of 80-100 bushels could be possibly through the successful cultivation in an acre.
