Nisira Castro Guevara

Nirsia Castro Guevara was speaking at a special press briefing held at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba yesterday.

According to the ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Nisira Castro Guevara, Cuba has been requesting the UN General Assembly yearly to end the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by US against them. In the previous 19 years it had been approved with a majority vote. Cuba had first presented resolution in 1992 and this is the 20th time that it would be taken up for debate.

Last year 187 member states voted in favor of this resolution which is irrefutable proof that the battle for lifting the blockade has the recognition and support of the international community, she said.
