Septuagenarian’s seventieth painting
Renowned artist M Chandrapala’s 15th solo art exhibition will
commence at Lionel Wendt Art Gallery on October 28. This exhibition is
named as Seventieth (70th) and arrangements have been made to display 70
artistic creations to mark the artist’s 70th birthday.
This art exhibition will be declared open by Professor Albert
Dharmasiri on October 28 at 3.30 pm. The exhibition will be open for
public till 7 pm on October 29 and 30 from 10 am.
The artist has attempted to depict the importance of peace,
brotherhood, mercy, love and the good side of life and enjoyment through
his creations vividly and artistically.Born in Veyangoda in Gampaha
district M Chandrapala is a graduate of the University of Kelaniya. He
has followed a course on Art at Heywood Institute.
He has held 14 solo art exhibitions. So far Chandrapala’s artistic
creations have been selected to represent Sri Lanka for the
international art exhibitions held in Bangaladesh, Bulgaria and India.
The art lovers in Sri Lanka and abroad have selected many paintings
drawn by Chandrapala for their personal art galleries and residences.
Chandrapala shows an interest and enthusiasm in poetry. Kulundul
Belmak (A Maiden Glimpse), Mawathe Geethayak (A Song of the Street) and
Socrates Haa Pawahan (Socrates and Shoes) are his poetry collections.
He has been running a private art gallery since February 2006 at No
254 in Veyangoda town (near the Banks) providing opportunities for fans
and spectators to see his paintings. |
