Heavily pregnant French First Lady on Paris day out

‘ I can’t drink or smoke any more; I’m in a hurry to get it over with’:

France: The French first lady who is almost two weeks overdue – cut an uncomfortable looking figure as she wandered out in Paris yesterday with a mobile phone clamped to her ear.

Last month, the 43-year-old admitted to being ‘totally fed up’ with pregnancy. That was at eight months, so one can only imagine how she feels now. Miss Bruni said: ‘Quite frankly, I can’t stand it any more. I spend most of my time either sitting down or lying down.

‘I can’t drink or smoke any more. I’m in a hurry to get it over with.’

Despite the discomfort, the former supermodel still managed to look stylish in a white top, which showed off her bump, and black leggings.

Miss Bruni also recently told French TV that her baby – which was due on October 1 – will be protected from any intrusive media interest.

She already has a son, Aurelien, who was born in 2001 with ex-boyfriend Raphael Enthoven. Her husband, French president Nicolas Sarkozy, 56, already has three children, Pierre, 25, Jean, 23, and 13-year-old Louis from two previous marriages.
