Central Colleges sports festival

The Central Colleges Sports Festival organised to coincide with the 127th birth anniversary of former Minister of Education Late Dr C W W Kannangara will be held for the tenth year on October 16 at 9.00 am at the Oruwala Steel Corporation playgrounds. The chief guest at the festival will be Steel Corporation Manager Dhammika Lokuwithana who is also an old boy of Ibbagamuwa Central College.

Many sports events such as twenty20 cricket, netball and mens and womens volleyball tournaments are scheduled to be held throughout the day on Sunday.

Students from forty six of the fifty four Central Colleges covering the entire island will take part in this competition. A significant feature will be the participation of the students from the Kanagaratnam Central College in Jaffna.

All the winning teams will be given cash prizes and awards, the winners will receive Rs 50,000, the second placed Rs 30,000 and the third placed Rs 20,000.
