Voting bigins on October 22

Sri Lankans will soon have another opportunity to exercise their right to vote - this time from the comfort of their homes or offices and for their favourite cricketer.

The selection of the 2011 CEAT Peoples Player of the Year, one of the highlights of the annual CEAT Sri Lanka Cricket Awards by SMS voting begins on Saturday, October 22 and the public will be permitted to vote as many times as they like for their choice, until - November 25.

The 100 cricketers who are on contract with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are eligible to receive votes for this prestigious award, which will be presented at the 2011 CEAT Sri Lanka Cricket Awards scheduled for November 29. The names of these 100 players are published on the website of Sri Lnaka Cricket (www.srilankacricket.lk) for the convenience of voters. Voting may be done via five mobile networks - Dialog, Etisalat, Mobitel, Hutch and Airtel - and the CDMA services of Lanka Bell, Suntel and SLT City Link. Voters should type CEAT (Space) Name of the Cricketer and send to 6797 to participate. Each voting SMS will cost the sender Rs. 2.50.

As a special reward from CEAT Sri Lanka, all persons who vote for their favourite cricketer will go into a draw at the end of voting and 10 voters will win tickets to the grand 2011 CEAT Sri Lanka Cricketer Awards gala at Waters Edge.
