Two UNPers temporarily suspended

Matara district UNP Parliamentarian Buddhika Pathirana and UNP Western Provincial Councillor Sri Lal Lakthilake were temporarily suspended from the party pending a disciplinary inquiry.

According to party sources, the party has received a number of complaints from party members at grass roots level that these two party members in question violated the UNP constitution by supporting independent groups at the last Local Government election.

These UNPers have criticized the party leaders and demanded changes in the leadership, the sources said.
