Special exposition of Sacred Relics

An exposition of the Sacred Hair Relics of Lord Buddha will take place on October 25 and 26 at the historic Senkadagalapura Asgiriya Sri Vijayasundararamaya.

The Relics which are now at Gangaramaya, Hunupitiya are to be taken to Senkadagalapura on October 25 at 8 am, Cabinet Spokesman and Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.

Addressing the media at the Government Information Department Minister Rambukwella said the Relics will be exposed to the public until 4 pm on October 26.

Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake said all arrangements will be made to provide facilities for those visiting Senkadagalapura to view relics.

Parking facilities, health services and all other facilities are to be provided during the exposition of the Sacred Relics. The Relics were handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa during his visit to Bangladesh early this year.

Asgiriya Sri Vijayasundararamaya was the last temple of the last king of Sri Lanka, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe.
