Josephian Ball '11 - 'Da Flamenco'

Josephian Ball '11 will be held on October 22 at Grand Ballroom of Hilton Colombo commencing at 8.30 p.m.

"This time we have come out with totally a different theme and 'Da Flamenco' a spanish theme (Gypsy dancing) is ready to rock Colombo", observed the chairman of the organising Committee, Ravi Thangaih. "We have included so many novelties inclusive of the entrance gift to the capacity crowd of a 600 audience. The tickets too have already been sold out."

Josephians are known for many things in first and also as trendsetters! Boasts of a dinner social of its kind way back in 1963.

It was held at Galle face hotel Colombo on December 8,1963.

What was unique in that was five out of nine Supreme Court Judges were From St Joseph's. Former Chief Justice Hema Basnayake (QC), Justice H.W.R.Weerasooriya, Justice H.N.G.Fernando (Later Chief Justice), Justice A.W.H.Abeysundera (QC) and Justice G.P.A.Silva.

Apart from these there were dignitaries like Sir Albert F.Pieries (One time Speaker of Parliament),Prof. Valentine Basnayake (Dean of the Colombo Medical Faculty) and well known political figures in the calibre of Mahaname Samaraweera, Former President Ranasinghe Premadasa and G.G.Ponnambalam etc.

This year's Dance proceeds will be directed in repairing and constructing of the OBU Secretariat.

The popular bands like Sunil & Gypsies , Heat and Corrine is certainly bound to thrill the gathering.
