Trinity in command

Trinity College recovered in the last session to have a firm grip in
their inter-school cricket match against St Aloysius College, Galle
which began at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy yesterday.
The match will be continued today at 9.30 am. Put into bat St
Aloysius College were bundled out for 54 but they batted for 42.3 overs,
scoring at little over a run per over.
They were 35 for 1 at one stage and started losing wickets at regular
intervals. They were 54 for 6 but lost the last four wickets without any
addition to the total.
Chief destroyer was left arm spinner Alwin Fernando who took 5 for
15. Spinner Akila Jayasundara took 2 for 16 and Janishka Premasinghe 2
for 15 to complete the rest.
Trinity College in their turn at the wickets too were off to a poor
start losing their first three wickets for 4 runs and were struggling at
57 for 6 before a seventh wicket stand of 104 in the final session
between Dinuk Wickremanayake 68 not out (10 fours, 90 balls) and Arjuna
Jayasinghe 47 (5 fours, 87 balls) pulled them out of the woods.
Dinuk Wickremanayake was the dominant partner of the two and batted
extremely well offering no chances.
He looks set to score his second century of the season, having scored
104 against Mahanama College earlier this month.
Trinity College, now have a first innings lead of 133 and could well
go for their first outright win this season.
